Trauma Therapy
I work from an attachment and trauma informed lens and understand pathways to healing from trauma in one’s life. I am a life long learner and I take the time to learn the latest knowledge and treatment for trauma. I work with researched therapies, such as CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and polyvagal theory, which connects psychology, neuroscience, and physiology. I believe in incorporating mind-body-centered practices to support the body in releasing trauma in a safe, connected space.
“But what can be dealt with are the imprints of the trauma on body, mind, and soul: the crushing sensations in your chest that you may label as anxiety or depression; the fear of losing control; always on alert for danger or rejection; the self-loathing; the nightmares and flashbacks; the fog that keeps you from staying on task and from engaging fully in what you are doing; being unable to fully open your heart to another human being.”
from the book The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel A. van der Kolk, M.D.
